Jewelry Trends 2012

Coming out of the recession that made us all a bit nervous and tightening our pocketbooks... we have pared down to a simple way of looking at things. Big and bold gives us two distinct feelings when it comes to our jewelry: Extravagant and safe. These are the feelings that played out during these tough economic times and now we have a different feeling ahead of us... a sense of relief, a sense of balance and beginning.

Whenever we feel as consumers that the time is right for paring down, we focus on simple designs and simple, warm colors. Plain metals materials: pure sterling silver and gold, simple and soft semi-precious stones with Earth colors and a simple palette will prevail for 2012. Also handcrafted jewelry is getting more attention from consumers since they are like one of a kind pieces. Creativity will overrun our need for security and gentle pairings of blackened metals (oxidized sterling silver) and all natural materials will tone things down considerably.

Pearls will be the big player as we see them with different eyes than ever before. Also they work well with all kind of metals, for example, sterling silver, gold, or oxidized silver with different tones. They will convey a sense of hope and simplicity with tones that will match anything in your wardrobe. If the recession keeps us as consumers from buying everything we want and making smarter choices, we will have to go with what we can get the most mileage from. I know one very positive thing: we needed this recession. We needed to correct the overdone hype and over-the-top, crowded marketplace with designers that are not taking themselves too seriously! I welcome the very simple, yet creative work that will be here for us this year.

QuickStart Report

Whether you are a collector, a fashionista or a specialty shop retailer, knowing what fashion jewelry trends are current and coming is vital and then being able to duplicate the trend at a fraction of the designer or retail pieces is essential. After much market research and trend-spotting, I have compiled a list of the jewelry trends for 2012. In summary;

- Antique, Vintage, Retro & New Combinations
- Dramatic, unique, unusual necklaces (simple... yet exotic)
- Ornamented Bracelets
- Crystal, Rhinestone & Venetian Art Glass (...mainstays...)
- Black, Grey and Neutrals
- 2012 Color Predictions (you'll love the blues)
- Faux & Real Pearls
- Over-The-Top Rings (not gaudy, but daring)
- Enormous Hoops and Chandelier Earrings
- Green Eco Aware Movement (tastefully delicious)

JEWELRY 2011 HOLIDAY SHOPPING LISTS

If jewelry is on your holiday shopping list this year, you’re not alone. According to a recent survey by the National Retail Federation, 13 percent more people will put jewelry on their 2011 holiday shopping lists than did last year because the value of gold and sterling silver has been increasing lately.

Basic necessities popular in 2010 are being replaced on the lists by more exciting gifts for the 2011 holidays. And Americans plan to spend slightly more, an average of $688.87, up from $681.83 last year. Rather than using price as the determining factor, as they did last year, more shoppers will be looking at value.

When you buy gold and sterling silver jewelry, especially with a carat or more diamond or other precious gemstone, your gift doesn’t lose value with age. It’s an investment. And although wholesale prices on gemstones are up, deals can still be found. The higher costs most likely won’t be passed on to consumers until early next year.

The guide says the key to shopping for diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds as an investment is to be sure you get what you pay for. Ask about the quality and treatment of a stone, and get it in writing.

When purchasing gold and sterling silver jewelry at SD Jewelry Design your questions are welcomed, even encouraged. All our jewelry not only are handmade with high quality gold and sterling silver by professional jewelers but also used with hand pick gemstones. At SD Jewelry Design you’ll find a friendly, knowledgeable staff willing to help you find the perfect gift and make a smart purchase. If you’re buying gold or sterling silver rings, they can explain about buying and the costs and benefits of gold and sterling silver settings. If you want a colored gemstone, they can do an onsite stone analysis to show whether it’s natural or synthetic. When shopping at SD Jewelry Design, you know the value of what you’re buying.

Need gift ideas? Browse our online jewelry collections and we’ll help you select gifts your loved ones will cherish. Happy shopping!

STERLING SILVER SPINNER RINGS

I first became interested in Spinner Rings about 5 years ago when they have not been popular at all. I was introduced to them by a friend who sales jewelry wholesale to some of the large retailers. He gave me a spinner ring which just simply an outer band manually spins freely around the inner ring and I wore it out. I spun it and spun it and somehow it actually broke. From then on whenever I got a bit nervous I would reach for the spinner ring on my finger. It drove me crazy that it wasn’t there so I could spin that ring. I had to replace it!

I told my buddy how much I loved my spinner ring and that it had broke. He said there were some really good sterling silver spinner rings out there that would last. I ended up with his help finding a great sterling silver spinner ring supplier.

What are Sterling Silver Spinner Rings?

Based on ancient Tibetan prayer wheels these unusual spinner rings have an outer band which manually spins freely around the inner ring. This motion gives people a calming effect which sometimes helps in the aid of anxiety and worries. Sometimes spinner rings are referred to as anxiety spinner rings, Christian spinner rings, worry rings, turn rings, turning rings, prayer rings or motions rings.

The spinner rings have changed their style time by time. They have started with just a simply outer sterling silver spinner on top of a inner band ring and had more elements like gold ornament and stones.
